Coal
Our studio contributed to Coal, a 3D psychological horror game, by crafting immersive environments, detailed characters, and atmospheric scenes. Here's what we achieved:
Realistic Environments: Decaying streets, eerie corridors, and nostalgic interiors with rich storytelling elements.
Dynamic Lighting: Chilling atmosphere created with advanced lighting, shadows, and visual effects.
Character Design: Detailed, lifelike models that enhance the game’s haunting narrative.

Creating Immersive Atmosphere
The Problem: Balancing realism and psychological tension was critical. Designing environments that felt both haunting and visually captivating required meticulous attention to detail, from texture work to lighting setups.
Our Solution: Conducted in-depth research into psychological horror themes and visual references.
Iterated lighting, textures, and environmental design to create a balance between realism and unsettling aesthetics.
Optimizing for Performance
The Problem: Utilizing Unity HDRP allowed for stunning visuals, but achieving high-quality results while maintaining smooth performance across various systems was a constant technical challenge.
Our Solution: Streamlined assets by using optimized 3D models and textures with efficient LODs (Level of Detail).
Took full advantage of Unity HDRP’s features, such as baked lighting and shader optimization, to reduce real-time rendering load.
Consistent Art Direction
The Problem: Ensuring all elements—from eerie streets to character models—aligned with the psychological horror theme required close collaboration between artists, texture designers, and lighting specialists to maintain a cohesive vision.
Our Solution: Developed a detailed style guide to align all visual elements with the game’s psychological horror theme.
Fostered close communication among the team, holding regular reviews to ensure consistency in assets, lighting, and textures.
