Creating Unique and Dynamic Character Designs
Problem: Designing characters that were both visually striking and expressive in motion, while fitting seamlessly into the game’s vibrant 2D art style.
Solution: We focused on silhouette design to make each character instantly recognizable and used a limited yet impactful color palette. Regular animation tests ensured the designs maintained their expressiveness during gameplay.
Designing Visual Effects That Enhanced Gameplay Feedback
Problem: Ensuring visual effects like explosions, particle bursts, and enemy interactions were both impactful and didn’t clutter the screen during intense action sequences.
Solution: We used color coding and timing to differentiate effects, ensuring clarity and immediate player feedback. Optimization techniques ensured effects didn’t impact game performance.
Developing Detailed Backgrounds Without Distracting Players
Problem: Striking the right balance between creating immersive, detailed environments and ensuring they didn’t overshadow the fast-paced gameplay.
Solution: We layered parallax scrolling effects and adjusted background contrast to emphasize depth while keeping the action in the foreground clear and focused.
